Why a School-Based Traineeship?

A School-based Traineeship is rewarding for both the Tasmanian State Service, and for you, the student!  We offer traineeships in a variety of areas; these change year-on-year to adapt to changing business needs.

A traineeship does not just focus on "study", but also gives you the ability to gain a qualification in an area of interest to you and develop practical workplace skills; and opens up other employment or study opportunities. It is a particularly great initiative for those that find they learn better in "hands-on" or practical ways.

Our past trainees have stated that completing their qualification was rewarding, has improved their overall confidence and inspired them to pursue a career through further work or study.

Once you have completed your traineeship, you will be in a good position to apply for further jobs, choose further study options or help you to determine what you may want to do next.

Diversity

The Tasmanian State Service is committed to providing a flexible and respectful workplace that celebrates diversity. We welcome applicants with diverse skills, experiences, abilities and backgrounds to apply. The State Service recognises that we are currently underrepresented by people with disability and Aboriginal/Torres Strait Islander persons.

To ensure that we attract a diverse range of applicants, that is representative of the community we serve, we are asking Aboriginal/Torres Strait Island applicants and those with a disability, to complete the appropriate section within the application form, which also provides an option to opt-in for additional support.
