Treasury Cadetship Program
Do you want to gain professional experience in your degree area and make a difference to the Tasmanian community? Why not apply for Treasury's cadetship program?
We encourage you to regularly monitor this website for future Department of Treasury and Finance Cadetship opportunities.
During your cadetship, you will study part-time for an undergraduate degree while working for a central government agency and establishing your career.
The program features placements throughout nearly all branches in the Department (covering a wide variety of areas for which Treasury has responsibility) and Cadets rotate on a 12 monthly basis. You will receive paid time off to attend lectures, tutorials, and exams, over and above normal leave entitlements.
The opportunity to join our program is not limited to a particular set of study disciplines as we are focussed on becoming a more diverse, agile and inclusive organisation. As such, we recognise the specific knowledge and skills provided through study in many different degree areas together with the broader skills that are developed through work and other life experiences.
What work will I be doing?
You will undertake research, analysis and administrative work for a range of topical issues that relate to the work of the Branch you are placed in. You can be involved in standard tasks or in specific projects of significance to the work area. Treasury will aim to develop you for a future career with us through exposure to our broad responsibility areas and investment in ongoing training and skills development.
What we look for
We look for people who are excited about our mission and share our values. While the ability to work with numbers will be an important advantage, what really matters to us is that you are an innovative and critical thinker with the ability to successfully adapt to changing situations and new challenges. If you are results oriented and want to help us achieve our corporate goals, we want to hear from you!
To be eligible for our program, you must be currently studying, or prior to starting the cadetship be enrolled in, an undergraduate degree course at a tertiary institution. We are open to considering a wide range of study disciplines.
